Moti Gigi

Hello,

nice to meet you.

My name is Moti Gigi, I’m a sociologist, researcher, and educator. I was born and raised in Sderot, a small city on Israel’s southern border, and much of my academic and civic work has grown out of that experience. I study the connections between space, identity, and social class, and I’m especially interested in the ways peripheries—geographic, ethnic, and cultural—shape people’s lives, and how people resist, reinterpret, or transform the systems around them.

I’m also a first-generation academic, a husband to Karni, and a father to Ela, Ariel, and Amir. This site brings together my research, writing, public speaking, and social engagement.

Welcome.
